Every so often, we meet a pet who embodies the very reason our mobile veterinary service exists. Patch, a remarkable 22-year-old Yorkie, was one of those pets. You will find Patch’s photo on most of our marketing materials, and he is often featured on our website and social media. Patch was a small dog with an enormous capacity for love and joy. He was the kind of dog who, despite having only one eye, saw the world with endless happiness.
Our journey with Patch began in a way that wasn't ideal for him. Dr. McGee first met him late one night while doing relief work at an urgent care clinic. The environment was overwhelming for Patch, and the stress made it hard for him to breathe. Dr. McGee knew immediately that Patch’s case needed a different approach. He sent Patch home and established in-home care for him soon after. Patch needed antibiotic injections for a few months, and we were able to give them to him without any of the stress that had initially upset him.
Patch was more than just a patient; he was an extremely happy dog who taught us a lot about resilience and aging gracefully. We’ll always remember his bright spirit and the gentle way he interacted with his two siblings – a fellow small Yorkie and a much larger pit bull.
To Patch's family: thank you for trusting us with his care. You gave him a beautiful, loving life, and we were honored to provide him with comfort and peace in his final year.
